There are many illnesses that the medical field has not be able to adequately treat through conventional medicine and surgeries. One of these is Crohn’s disease, or other variants of inflammatory bowel disease.
People who suffer from these diseases are experiencing an autoimmune reaction to certain foods and to stress in life which causes chronic and often intense inflammation in the GI tract.
Functionally Crohn’s disease is no different than any other autoimmune condition. It just particularly localized to the digestive system. This may be for various reasons – including genetic and psychological. However the result is the same. The body senses an invader and turns on the immune system to attack a localized area. In the case of Crohn’s and autoimmune conditions – the immune system is not able to turn itself back off and leads to chronic inflammation, ulcers, pain and disfunction.
The cure to all autoimmune conditions is the same. You need to do 2 things.
1) Get rid of the inflammation so it does not cause more damage. Inflammation from Crohn’s disease can be brutal, it can cause ulcers in the intestinal lining which causes extreme pain.
It should go without saying but training in the cold – ice baths, cold showers, etc – is the best way to calm down inflammation – acutely bringing it down to zero. Consistent ice baths will reduce chronic inflammation dramatically.
2) The immune system needs to be corralled and controlled so that it is functioning optimally. Cold and heat therapy are both known as what are called environmental stressors which strengthen and optimize the immune system.
The protocol for recovery from Crohn’s disease is 3 fold:
1) Get your cold conditioning up to advanced levels. That means 10 minutes in the cold shower, 5 minutes in the ice bath. Do this daily if you are just starting off and after you have gained control over your symptoms you can go down to 3-4 times a week in conjunction with your weightlifting schedule.
2) Practice Power Breathing, the most powerful breathing technique I teach. This will also allow you to control your nervous system and your immune system.
3) Be strict on your diet in the early going. Your GI tract has a history of being oversensitive and reacting strongly to negative stimulus, so even if you feel confident that you are controlling the inflammation and your immune system you do not want to test things. Practice an elimination diet and only eat foods you know have no history of causing flareups.
If you want more proof that that this training method I teach can cure Crohn’s disease, take a look at the case of my client Alex. This man had brutal Crohn’s disease which had him at 100 pounds at 5-10. After only a couple months of training with me he was largely symptom free, gaining weight and gaining strength.
